The scam, which was executed by an Australian criminal ring and is known as MDAC is to send the user an e-card, which seems to come from a large online greeting card service. When the user clicks on the hyperlink to open the card, the browser will take advantage of a server to determine if your computer has been updated with the latest security updates are diverted checks.

If not, install server, a rootkit and keylogger and then sent the computer into a real e-card. The user continues to work on the computer, to probably forget about e-cards.
